Neighborhood Edging Project

Davenport Rim Neighbors: One of the major projects the Board has identified for improving the neighborhood is the "Edging" Project. This involves shoring up the front yard edges as they intersect with the street pavement. As you look around the neighborhood, it is apparent that some of the front yard edges are in better shape than others. Some units that were in compliance at the beginning of the Front Yard improvement last May had been grandfathered in and were not required to have the new 4" (average) stones, in those cases where the owners chose to have stones instead of grass. Thus, these smaller stones have a tendency to wash (indeed, even heavy rains recently have caused some of the larger stones to wash) down the hill or into the roadway. In addition, the limestone brick edges in front of some units have come loose or have been run over by parked cars. Therefore, the Board has identified units whose front yards have a wash problem or are in other ways the product of erosion or parked car damage. These units (about 50% of our total units) will soon be notified and given an opportunity to have input into how they would like their front edging improved. There will be no cost for this work to the unit owners or renters. The intent of this notice is to let you know that this project will hopefully begin by June 1 (weather permitting), and will be completed before the new pavement resealing work is started mid-June. So if you see work going on in front or near your unit, do not be surprised. We hope this will improve the look of our front yards and reduce overall erosion. Likewise, if you do not receive an email by May 20 indicating your front yard will be improved, and you would like to have some work done, please (no later than May 24) contact Melissa at Melissa@pioneeraustin.com. Note that unit owners designated for improvement will be given a choice about the type of edging, and about other aspects of the work they might like to change. No units with grass up to the edge will be affected, and only a few units that have improved their front yards since May 2018 will be affected (mostly in cases where the Board has seen erosion, such as on the hill above the mail hut). If you have any questions about this project, please contact Melissa or Carl, your COA President. Thanks for supporting Davenport Rim as a beautiful community to live in!
