ANNOUNCEMENT: DEAD TREE REMOVAL
Neighbors: We are pleased to announce that we have received an excellent bid from one of Austin’s premier Tree Care experts to remove
the trees that were lost during the February freeze. We have identified twenty-one (21) Priority One trees (i.e., those that need to be removed first) - mostly lacebark elms - and about 10-12 (Priority Two) trees that will be watched for their response to the summer heat. Many Priority Two trees may have their crowns trimmed to allow more nutrients to be shunted to lower trunks and limbs to keep them alive.
Priority One trees will be removed, cutting them down to ground level, no later than the middle of August. All 21 trees will be removed in a 2-3 day period at that time. We will alert homeowners about putting their vehicles in their garage or away from their homes to prevent damage during tree removal.
If you want to see if you have a Priority One tree in your front yard, simply look for a dark green X on the trunk.
Replacement of the removed trees will be in late October or early November, the prime tree planting season. Please remember, this
project will be paid out of HOA reserves, and owners will not be charged.
Thanks for your patience and support of these important projects that will maintain the beauty of our neighborhood. In the meantime, let’s all be optimistic that we will suffer no more severe weather problems (at least in the next several years) like we had in the February cold and May storms! Extreme weather events such as these are devastating to our trees, and hopefully will be rare.
