Landscaping:
Now that the summer heat is gone and fall/winter are upon us, there will be some landscaping changes as our Yellowstone contract shifts to accommodate our lawns, trees, and greenery.
The new Yellowstone schedule for lawn maintenance (mowing, trimming, and blowing) will be as follows for the next 4 months:
Nov 10
Nov 21 (week of)
Dec 8
Dec 22
Jan 12
Jan 26
Feb 9
Feb 23
Note that Yellowstone will maintain our regular Thursday maintenance day (except the week of Thanksgiving), and they have been able to maintain essentially the same crew that has been doing such a wonderful job for us over the past months.
Leaf blowing and removal will be the main focus of each maintenance day, with an extra day added in December and January, when leaf accumulation is particularly bad.
Irrigation:
As usual, irrigation for the entire neighborhood (mainly backyards and common areas) will be curtailed sometime in December, and will begin again sometime in February (roughly 3 months, depending on the weather, for water/wastewater savings). The good news is that our HOA has been granted a variance by Austin Water to expand our irrigation schedule throughout the week (not just Tuesday), and to increase the amount of water being provided to our newly planted trees, front entrance flowers (due to be planted next week), electrical box plantings (see below), and new plantings at the Canonero Drive entrance. The amount of water per day and daily zones are currently being decided. This is not only beneficial to our plants but will help to decrease the chances of reduced water pressure occurring as it did on September 13 (Austin Water traced the problem to our neighborhood irrigation water overuse that week).
Electrical box plantings:
If you have a large green electrical box in front of your home, and if you didn’t opt out of this program, there are now new nandina plants (they are very small) around all of the electrical boxes. These are designed to grow fast and provide partial cover to the boxes. (Please don’t remove them – unless you want to replace them at your cost!)
Our neighborhood is looking great, thanks to your help! Keep up the good work!
