TRASH, RECYCLING, AND COMPOST UPDATE AND INFORMATION
February 12, 2022 – According to Austin Resource Recovery, our neighborhood is not eligible for free special collections, which is not good news for our un-emptied recycling bins. The next scheduled collection is February 18, 2022.
You may leave your blue bin outside for the remainder of the week, or put it up near your garage door to
get it away from the road, where it may impede traffic and parking. For this week’s extra recyclable materials, placing them in a bag or box next to your overflowing blue bin is likely (no guarantees) to be picked up on Friday.
Please notice the suspension of large brush and bulk collection beginning February 21, 2022, due to staffing shortages from covid-19 and problems filling open vacancies. The City is apparently placing first priority on catching up on regular trash, compost, and recycling pickups: https://www.austintexas.gov/department/austin-resource-recovery
If you would like to receive regular reminders of pick-up dates and slide days, the City has a neat free downloadable app called “Austin Recycles”. Pickup schedules can also be found at the link in the preceding paragraph.
Please be aware of these neighborhood reminders (www.2800waymaker.com):
Trash and other bins may be placed curbside the evening before collection and must be off the street NO LATER THAN 8 PM ON FRIDAY (the Board has lately noticed several units with bins left out through Saturday).
Trash bins must be stored in garages.
In our neighborhood, trash and compost bins are picked up every Friday morning; recycling occurs every other week.
Finally, for ease of pickup, please place your bins 3-5 feet apart. Neatly stacked bins side-by-side are not easily picked up by the automatic bin grabbers!
Davenport Rim is a neighborhood that prides itself on its attractiveness. For our new neighbors, welcome to the community!
