All New Davenport Rim Owners and Tenants -Welcome to our neighborhood! Please make sure that Pioneer management (melissa@pioneeraustin.com) has your complete phone numbers and email addresses so you can receive all neighborhood announcements.
Everyone – here are two important reminders about Fall landscaping maintenance and irrigation changes.
1. Landscaping maintenance – Our contract with Brightview Landscaping Company indicates that, as in previous years, we will be on an every-other-week landscape maintenance schedule from November 1 – February 28. Lawn mowing especially is not needed more than every two weeks during this slow growth period.
The Board is aware, however, that falling leaves often continue well into January, and we will request more leaf blowing as needed for excessive leaves in the streets and yards. This is especially true for the next few weeks, and Brightview has promised to perform extra leaf-blowing as its team schedule allows.
2. Irrigation changes – Typically, Brightview turns our irrigation system off sometime in November and turns it back on again sometime in February. This has been at the request of the current and previous Boards, to take advantage of City of Austin wastewater averaging designed to save us money on our year-round monthly bills: https://www.austintexas.gov/department/wastewater-averaging
City of Austin requires the wastewater averaging period to be based on our billing date, which this year falls between the middle of December and the middle of February, when we will shut down all irrigation completely.
At this time, Brightview has pretty much finished all irrigation repairs in the neighborhood, and we have asked Brightview to continue watering once a week for a while since we are low on rainfall. You will notice, however, that irrigation will continue daily at the Waymaker Way front entrance for a few weeks, after they add some winter plants to “make it pretty” until summer flowers are planted in late spring.
What the above changes mean is that anyone who decides to add new plants, sod, or flowers in their front or back yards will need to water those yourself. New sod and plants, especially, require daily watering until they are firmly established.
Have a wonderful Holiday season, and plan to attend our virtual Annual Neighborhood meeting at 7 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2021!
